After going through some older photos recently I came across this image that was taken in 2017. When I looked at it this time the faces of future Hall of Fame jockeys Irad Ortiz and brother Jose Ortiz jumped right out at me. What’s unique about the image is that the brothers appear shoulder-to-shoulder and seen head on during a race. Pictured as the only jockeys with “heads up” attests to the opinion that they have great vision for seeing a race as it unfolds before them. A skill often putting them as the first to cross the wire.
